Off to sunny Cognac

So a break for me and the boys. We are off to France for ten days. I promise there will be some crafting when I get back... my 'to make' list is as long as my leg.

A bag for nursery

Hooray! I made something new! I have been wanting to make M a bag for his bits and pieces for when he goes to nursery. Prior to last night we had been using a very unappealling drawstring canvas bag. Now we have a delicious bag made from a pattern in Amy Karol's Bend-the-rules sewing, and with the boaty fabric from Cotton and Cloud.

I can't tell you how pleased I am. I made it last night. It took me about 4 hours and the finish is surprisingly good. I am so inspired that I have spent a bomb today on fabric and on a new book!

We are off camping this evening, so fingers crossed that it doesn't rain all weekend!

Bristol Sunwalk 2008

Sunday was charity walk day for me, and this means that yesterday and today have been 'can't walk because it hurts too much' days. My colleagues and I walked a half marathon in 2:59:57. Yes, that's 13.2 miles in (just) under 3 hours! I can tell you that I didn't know I could walk that fast, or that far. Crikey, I hadn't appreciated what I was letting myself in for.

Anyway, it was a lovely day and all in aid of walk the walk, the breast cancer awareness charity. You have to walk in your bra and decorate it yourself, so here is a pic of the bra. I was pretty pleased actually. It was a very last minute effort and it was the first time I had dropped the feed dog on my sewing machine, so I was learning too!

Ouch. I think I need to soak in a hot bath.

Bunny Mad

I've gone a bit bunny mad. I figured that as I was in rabbit mode I had better make them for some of the other special little people in my life, namely my son and my godson, and seeing as my godson is a twin, I had better make another! They are finished now, but I did think they looked rather nice before their stuffing - all cute and crumpled.

Greengages and little boats

Look at the gorgeous fabric that landed on my door matt this morning. Swiftly sent to me from Cotton and Cloud's etsy shop.

I really love the greengages, I am going to make something for myself with that one. And something for M with the boaty one.

Skyla's Rabbit

M and I have been invited to a 3rd birthday party.

A little bird told me that the girl in question was rabbit mad at the moment and having recently found a lovely free rabbit pattern and tutorial on Kwoozy's blog, I decided to give it a go.

I had a hunt in my box of material and found some lovely green velvet left over from a curtain I made recently and away I went.

I really enjoyed making it, shrieking with joy more than once, and am really really pleased with the result.

I finished the bunny off with a little pom-pom tail. Nice, huh?!

Bunting in plenty of time

So my crafty endeavours are underway. B and I are getting married next year and I want lots and lots of bunting. I figured I had better get started right away and if I make flags for a year it shouldn't be too much of a task.

I began with 8 flags in a pretty pink polka dot fabric that I was given by a friend years ago. I think it is a pretty good start!
