I have finally finished my 'first' quilt that I started back in
September 2008. Yes, I know, it's a miracle, it only took me 16 months! Truthfully, I am overjoyed and relieved to have completed this project. I have started quilting it twice, and unpicked it twice, started with one type of batting, and ended with another... basically changing tack many times before ending up here, at the end.
I completed the quilt top in October 2008 after joining a quilting and patchwork class. Then I had to figure out how to quilt it on my own. It sounds daft saying 'on my own' about a task that seems pretty straightforward to me now, but I just didn't have the confidence, or (dare I say it) experience, that I have now. This quilt really makes me realise how much I have been learning over the last year or so, not just in being able to finish it, but in the quality of my stitching.
I am VERY pleased to have it finished. I love that it is no longer in a pile under my desk. I love (most of) the fabrics and it's rich and playful colours. I love that it is for us, and I won't be wrapping it up and giving it away like so much that I make. And, I love that we have already been snuggling under it rather a lot.

Oooh, it's very pretty - and it looks very snuggly. Enjoy it!
I think it's gorgeous. Well done for getting it finished, and you still have plenty of cold days to snuggle under it. So much more satisfying than finishing it in the middle of August when it is just too hot. Great job!

Wow that looks gorgeous and it would seem to me that you made it in super quick time. I have memories of my mum starting a quilt when I was about 5 (maybe younger)and, as far as I know, she still hasn't finished it yet and I'm nearly (cough) 41!
I wish I could make things as beautiful as you do.
That looks like so much hard work, no wonder it took you so long! Congrats on getting it finished!! Isn’t it nice when you make stuff for yourself? I always feel a little sad when I have to give stuff away, even if it was always meant to be a present
Well done - it's gorgeous! Perfect for snuggling in and filling these long, cold winter evenings with colour and warmth!
It's gorgeous - I really like the grey polka dot binding!
Your quilt is absolutely beautiful! I love the mix of brights and neutrals you have used and the binding is so pretty too. It's always satisfying to finish something which you've restarted something lots of times in a bid to get it just right, which it certainly looks like you have done!
Absolutely beautiful! I love the fabric combinations...
I envy you - I'm still working on a quilt for myself, they always get put to the bottom of the pile don't they! You're satisfaction at your completion is totally justified, it's a gorgeous quilt.
I love the shapes in this quilt, it's gorgeous. I love the Amy Butler Martini fabric too. x
